Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nationwide, we are experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic struggles. Millions of Americans are without a job, food, or a place to stay. Some of my students are home taking distance learning classes and we are eager to bring them back to face to face instruction.
I teach at a Title I campus where the majority of the students are English language learners.
All students in our district receive free lunch. My students are very energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new things.
My Project
We need an iPad Pro to incorporate eBooks and other digital texts in the classroom. With a wealth of free and inexpensive eBooks available, I can provide students with a wider selection of reading material, supplement classroom materials with articles from newspapers and magazines, listen to podcasts, or watch documentaries. It is very difficult to prepare lessons when some of the students are not present at school. The iPad Pro will provide the technology needed to project and facilitate instruction for distance learning students and the ones attending daily instruction at our campus.
Also, students will also be more motivated to participate in class with an iPad Pro in the classroom.
The wealth of apps and information available through the iPad Pro will allow me to reach students with multiple learning styles at once. Podcasts can appeal to auditory learners, while visual learners may choose to search for pictures and graphs to help them learn. Kinesthetic learners also benefit from the iPad Pro as they use their fingers to tap, swipe and pinch their way to new information.
