My Students
My students are a group of fourth grade students who are highly motivated when they know they are cared about.
The school is 100% economically disadvantaged and most of our students rely on the meals and snacks they receive at school because oftentimes, it is all they consume that day.
Many of my students come to school after facing many obstacles in their home lives. Many families are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and are in need of essential items.
These problems often find their way into the classroom. Some are homeless, some live in shelters, others are latchkey kids with no adult home for several hours after they arrive home or they are responsible for taking care of their younger siblings while their parents are working.
My Project
My students are a very inquisitive team. They need engaging STEM resources such as the Merge Cube in math and science to make learning fun. These cubes can make workstations more interesting.
My students want to learn and are motivated by hands-on activities that keep them thinking.
Students will be able to use this resource as a review and self-check station. My students also need incentives to keep them motivated. The snacks will be used to show my students that their hard work is to be celebrated. With these resources, my students will end this school year stronger and smarter scholars.
