Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school has a high ELL population and we are located in Brookhaven (an area North of Atlanta). We are a Title I school with a diverse group of learners. A strong community is an important aspect of our school.
My school is part of a close-knit community where the majority of my students have gone to school together since they were in Kindergarten.
Also, most of my students are neighbors with one another and have grown up near each other so they consider themselves family.
My Project
My students work hard and I tell them that everyday. An end of the year gift is not required of teachers, but I believe that creating a personalized gift will give them self-confidence going into 5th grade. My homeroom students have incredible minds and I have enjoyed getting to know them and see their personalities flourish over the course of the school year.
I would like to provide them with a personalized gift at the end of the school year that makes them feel that they are valued and important.
I plan to create a word cloud for each student, provide them with a reusable water bottle, and a book to add humor about 5th grade. I am looking forward to providing this special gift for my students.
