My students are inquisitive children who are ready for learning! Many of them have never been in a classroom before. Kindergarten is a year where they learn what school is all about. They grow socially and academically throughout the year. We build the foundation for their future.
My Kindergarten classroom has many different types of learners.
I like to provide them with options that help them to learn the way that learn best. Having choice allows them to guide their own learning.
My Project
My Kindergarten students need different more flexible seating options in our room. I currently have a couple of wobble chairs and bean bags, and my students take turns using them. They focus better when they have this choice of seating, but I don't have enough for everyone. I would like to add more options so that I can help more learners focus.
With flexible seating like wobble chairs and cushions, students are free to make a choice of which seating option is best for their learning.
By giving them a choice, I am teaching them how to make good choices that will help them be successful in the classroom. This also helps decrease behavior problems by allowing students to figure out how they learn best.
