This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach in a low-income school where many of my students are reading well below grade level. A lot of them do not have the opportunity to read books outside of school, so I would like to have a classroom library where students can "check-out" books to read at home.
This would not only help their fluency and comprehension, but also help build their confidence, which a lot of my students struggle with on a daily basis.
My students come from all walks of life, so this would be wonderful!
