Encouraging Life-Long Physical Activity

Help me give my students a variety of outdoor equipment. My goal is to expose them to as many outside activities as possible, and focus on using easily accessible equipment like hula hoops, and frisbees.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a community of free lunches provided for each student, also a Title I school. A lot of them come from busy houses with lots of family members sometimes living under one roof. Students receive Physical Education class 3 times a week in grades 4th, 5th, and 6th.

My Project

Students use the equipment to learn a variety of movement skills which they will use throughout their lives.

Volleyball is one of the most requested sports to learn because a lot of them have never played before.

Foam frisbees are used for beginner students to not be afraid of getting hit, for disc golf.

Flow markers are used for a game called prairie dog pickoff.

Hoop and rope cart is used to transport equipment from the storage room to the playground. Kids love to help take out equipment when possible.

Soccer is huge in this community of Hispanic families.
