Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of 5 and 6 year olds who come to school eager and ready to learn. I teach an Accelerated Kindergarten class that is filled with students that are learning to read, and write. Its truly amazing what these kiddos are capable of achieving at such a young age. In my class, students are encouraged daily to set goals and are taught that they can do and become anything they want to be. Our school went through a transition last year due to an unfortunate circumstances and I am looking to make my classroom a comfortable, fun and safe learning environment that reaches all types of learners.
My Project
Flexible seating will encourage students to take charge of their own learning by offering them choices that will work best for their individual learning styles. Students are typically much more engaged and excited about learning when they are able to choose where to work.
The different items that I have chosen will give my students choices in their learning journey.
I will use the balance ball chairs, portable tables, stools and cushions as different work spaces for the students to get their wiggles out and become more focused and excited about learning and working. Each morning, students will come in and be given the opportunity to try out the different items. I believe these items will have a positive affect on my students and their excitement for the classroom.
