Our students live in a rural area and face many challenges in and out of the classroom. They work hard and love learning. Our students love to read and learn through books!
Students come to the library to read, explore, and imagine.
I want to show the students the world. It is my job to advocate for these students and I want to make sure they have all the resources they need to be successful. The library is a place for all students to gather, explore, and learn, but sometimes they need specific topics at times when I do not have funding to purchase.
My Project
I have recently started teaching 4th and 5th grade classes the basics of coding and given them time to explore block coding on their own. Many of the students are doing more lessons during their recess and after school care time to advance to the next level. They want to create their own projects and games using free programs on the web.
The students need guides and idea books to help get them started on independent game design.
I want to use these books to help motivate the students to keep going. Sometimes learning, writing, and repairing code can be an overwhelming task. I hope that these books will be helpful guides for the students to reference when they are stuck.
