My Students

Carl Sagan once said, “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” My students are thirsty for knowledge and experiences. These seven and eight year old kids are curious about the world around them and passionate about everything that catches their attention.

My goal is to provide students with access to literature at their independent reading level to both inspire their dreams and encourage their love of reading.

I want students to be able to pick up a book that sparks an interest and drives their inquiry to learn more.

My Project

I want to provide students with access to series books, at their independent level, where they can analyze character development throughout the series. Students can dive deeper into the character's thoughts and actions when they can travel with a character throughout multiple texts.

We know that students learn with and through each other, so I need multiple copies of each text for students to collaborate with their peers.

Through book clubs with series books, we are inviting students to have natural discussions that lead to student inquiry and critical thinking about the characters and inevitably how they relate to the world around them.
