I teach at a middle school with a diverse student population including 48% low-income and nearly 20% English Learners. Students in my class speak at least 9 different languages at home.
For the past two years, I have had the opportunity to introduce my students to the realm of 3D printing which involved students designing objects using Blender, printing it out and developing a short stop motion animation video.
This project will enable students to envision their creativity through exploration of art and design by brainstorming and creating individual designs using 3Doodler. This could be used to supplement their characters and plan for the printing of complex patterns. I am looking forward to introducing my students towards planning for projects with 3D printing of objects through various tools and applications.
I am thrilled to introduce this technology to students which involves creativity, group work and problem solving skills integrated with exploring options related to STEM.
My Project
For the past few years, I have had the opportunity to introduce 7th and 8th graders to new technology innovations and implement them as part of the curriculum. It has been exciting for the students to view the potential implications of pursuing STEM related careers taking their own interests into consideration. One of the routes of interest has to be in the students working on various applications for 3D printed objects, starting from a basic storyboard to printing out their designs.
With your support and generosity, my middle school students have an opportunity to access new innovative tools.
With the versatility, color choice and design modules provided by 3Doodlers the pens will enable my mainstream students and students with learning disabilities to have access to learning opportunities.
