Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a diverse and incredible class of motivated students. My students come from low income homes. My kindergarten students are full of imagination and curiosity. They are also little sponges ready to soak up the material presented. This enables them to ask more questions and increase their learning.

My classroom includes children with learning disabilities who are experiencing poverty.

As you are aware, kindergarten is the foundation, and, for a majority of students, it is the first learning experience outside of home. Therefore, it is important that they are encouraged to be learners for life.

My Project

My students will show tremendous growth by using VersaTiles during our Reading block. With this engaging resource students will stay interested via play, while still learning. Students think it is a game, even though it is a learning tool. This is a great resource for young minds because they have to self check their responses and allows the teacher to provide immediate feedback and assess students understanding. VersaTiles will be used by all students in the classroom as a source of enrichment for on level and above level students and will be utilized for tutoring for struggling learners. Because VersaTiles is a hands on resource it will help students learn better because they are using manipulatives during reading.
