My students need more technology in their lives. many of my students live in homes without internet and are unable to explore different topics of interest and are not developing their technological skills that they need.
The thing I love most about my 4th graders is the constant curiosity that I see in them every day. They always want to take our lessons a step further and know as much as they can know! Its so amazing to see such a thirst for knowledge and an excitement for learning in my students. I would love to help my students do be independent in their research skills so that they can learn to answer their own questions as they arise.
My students are always asking me to delve deeper into our content areas, and oftentimes there isn’t this time in a day! Many of my students are not able to go home and explore topics of interest on the internet, as they may not even have internet to use. I teach in a title I school with a population of students that do not have many of the luxuries at home that other children might have. I’d like to use tablets as a research station in my classroom so that students are able to research topics of interest while developing technological skills that are important in the 21st century arena.
