I teach 3-4-year-old preschool children with a variety of developmental and physical delays in our elementary school's Early Childhood Special Education program. My students are focusing their time in school on increasing social, cognitive, adaptive, and communication skills. My students range from non-verbal to limited communication skills.
My children are eager to learn new things.
Some of my students are learning basic communication, social, and functional skills, while others are working on preparing for the transition to kindergarten. The work in my classroom prepares my students to be able to participate in activities with their general education peers.
My Project
My preschool students are working on increasing their independent play skills in a cooperative group setting. Many of their personal IEP goals include participating in a cooperative activity by sharing and exchanging materials. We are working on skills such as taking turns, building, and creating items with their peers.
Students will be able to work together to create and build as well as working on increasing fine-motor strength.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve social and play skills, you will ultimately help to increase their ability to interact and participate in activities as their typically developing peers.
