Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How do I prepare my students for the age of technology? The answer: two Nook e-readers that will encourage my struggling readers to continue to read.
My Seventh Grade students are vivacious, intelligent, critical thinkers who live in a high-poverty area.
More than 97 percent are eligible for free school meals, and sadly some are currently homeless. Their parents lack the financial resources to purchase anything technology related because they are busy working to make it through the next month on their current paycheck.
My Project
With two nook e-readers and two protective covers, my students will be able to experience technology they have only heard of on television. A Nook e-reader will allow me to purchase novels at a lower cost and will allow my struggling readers access to a bigger variety of titles all at the touch of their fingertips!
This project is important because it will benefit my students in many different ways.
First, it will provide quick and easy access to more books than the current selection in our school library, and second: students will learn that technology can be used as powerful learning tool in the classroom and that it can change their lives for the better. Plus, it will last for many classes after this one!
