Help me give my students books that serve as mirrors to reflect their own experiences and windows to introduce the diverse perspectives of others to create an inclusive classroom environment.
In my classroom, my goal is to create lifelong learners. I have a wonderful group of diverse first grade students. They love to read, write, calculate, create, and problem-solve, but most importantly, my students are always in need of a good challenge.
My students have different talents, come from different backgrounds, and have different learning styles, but they all have one thing in common and that is the desire to learn.
Given the right tools, these eager to learn students will grow up to be amazing life long learners.
My Project
I am looking to add some more diverse books to my classroom library for my students. It's important that the diverse and multicultural books in my classroom not only feature various types of diversity but also promote social change. With the current state of the country, it's important that we embrace the times and educate students on the movement that is currently happening, as well as encourage students to love and accept themselves as well as others.
I want to make sure that my students are exposed to many different types of diversity and cultures through literature.
By adding a variety of diverse books to my classroom, I hope to educate my students about people who are different from them and their culture.
