My 5th-grade classroom is comprised of 79 students for this school year. We live in a small Midwestern rural community.
Our school is a friendly, safe place where children come to musically grow at each individual's pace.
Each child has the opportunity to succeed fully at his or her potential with a level of involvement they are comfortable with.
My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and very loving people. We are having a great school year so far, preparing for their show. Our school houses over 550 students altogether. We have a growing diverse population and some of them receive backpack food bags for the weekend. To be able to offer students a once-in-a-lifetime musical theatre experience is awesome! The students will perform for other students in the school as well as their families.
My Project
In order to try to capture these students’ emerging talent, I had to find someone with the knowledge, skills, equipment and time to spend with the students interviewing them and taping rehearsals and their final production. Now, we are immersed in rehearsals, set building, and costuming, and have found a local videographer who is able to help us. My mission is to secure funds to pay this professional to secure a DVD to be given to each student upon production. I have secured the proper licensing and permission to produce the video. This is something that the school budget isn't able to purchase for our students.
