Enchanted Engineering: Cultivating Curiosity, Creativity, and Collaboration!
Help me give my students fairy tale and literature based STEM storytelling and problem solving kits and a Bee Bot Robot and iPad to program the Bee Bot robot to teach programming and coding.
My elementary students are highly active, easily excited, and learn best with hands-on problem solving resources. From coding to researching and everything in between, these students are able to develop and hone their informational literacy skills through real world situations and problem solving tasks using quality literature and resources. Given our limited STEM funding and resources, our students are not able to access and use STEM and coding resources very often, and when they are able to use these resources, they must share only a few outdated STEM kits which make STEM activities less engaging. The students work hard, enjoy completing curriculum learning products and projects, and look forward to sharing their research, problem solving strategies, creative challenges, and coding with each other and students in our global community.
These STEM resources would provide my students with the missing pieces to their meaningful learning experience puzzle and help them learn collaboratively as problem solvers, coders, and critical thinkers to become successful digital citizens.
To meet the needs of our constantly changing, diverse student population, as well as, each student's needs and learning styles, it is important to provide them with STEM resources to cultivate their curiosity and creativity!
My Project
The fairy tale problem solving and storytelling kits, Bee Bot, and iPad will allow students to be curious, be creative, and be collaborative! These are not only literature tools, but hands-on activities for students to dig deep into the books, explore characters, settings, and plot sequences while constructing a solution for each challenging situation in the story.
Students learn by doing and working together, and with high quality STEM resources, students can demonstrate their learning through creative challenges, literature based critical thinking activities, and coding to achieve their learning outcomes.
