Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
iHola, Hola Coca Cola! Que te pasa calabeza? iNada, nada limonada! Students are exploring their language development in Spanish.
My students are inner city, first generation students.
Many of them come from high poverty homes or homes where their families are working multiple jobs. My students range from Kindergarten to 3rd grade and are very excited to learn a language and be able to express themselves. My school does its best to help all of our students become successful in life and fulfill their dreams and aspirations.
My Project
Students will use the materials to help them in learning in Spanish. We following a Daily 5 model. During the work time the kids choose one of the Daily 5 rotations (read to self, read with someone, work on writing, listen to reading, working with words) while I meet with small groups (guided reading or strategy) or hold individual conferences.
For the younger students I teach like Kinder and 1st grade, they need more individualized instruction and more one-on-one. My students need the head phone/listening station, magnetic storage boxes, and clipboards to help them when we are following the Daily 5 model and understanding of the Spanish language. With these materials, it will allow for the small groups to be able to do their work easier.
My students are looking for a safe environment and are willing to learn and better themselves.
Having these materials will allow for them to be able to express themselves fully and expand their comprehension.
