This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most loving students you ever will meet. We are a Title I school located in a small, close-knit community. Our students face many hardships but that doesn't stop them from trying to be the best they can be. What excites me about teaching at my school is that our students love learning and look forward to coming to this safe and happy place every day, despite what challenges they face outside of school. I admire their eagerness and positive attitudes and want to give them as many tools to be successful both academically, emotionally, and physically.

My Project

My students absolutely love storytime in our classroom. The problem is our library selection is very limited. We need a variety of high-interest books. One of the book-sets that I have chosen are books and CD sets for my English Language Learners. The stories I chose are repetitive, musical, and enjoyable. We are also requesting the I Can Read books for my beginning readers. They like to sit quietly to enjoy having a book read to them while they enjoy the colorful illustrations. Reading a book is the best way to travel around the world and back without leaving the classroom!
