Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At AAES, we have the privilege of having girls that want to join our middle school basketball team. Girls who play sports do better in school because exercise improves learning, memory, and concentration, which can give active girls an advantage when it comes to the classroom. The students who play sports learn teamwork and goal-setting skills. Working with coaches and teammates to win games and meet goals is great practice for success later in life. Being a team player can make it easier to work with others and solve problems, whether on the field, in the classroom, or workplace. Since the girls' middle school basketball team did not have a season last year, we are looking to make the 2019-2020 season a year to remember.
My Project
The Middle School students will use the basketballs for games, warm ups, and practices at our school. Last year, we did not have a Girl's Basketball Team. With such a high interest this year and two dedicated coaches, all we are missing is the equipment needed for our success.
Girls involved in athletics feel better about themselves, both physically and socially.
It helps to build confidence when you see your skills improving and your goals becoming reality. Athletics can also lead to scholarship opportunities. The girls' basketball team at AAES is motivated and eager for a successful season together.
I cannot wait to walk into the gym every practice and see a smile on each player's face, energy bouncing up and down, and high fives all around!
