My students come primarily from low-income families. I teach in a district where ninety percent of the student body falls below the poverty level. Regardless of all the challenges, they may face my students come to school with an eagerness to learn and change their current situation.
The need to empower them is necessary in order to compete in the 21st century.
my students have the drive but lack the resources to help them be successful. My goal as their teacher is to help break down barriers that stand in their way.
Students in my class have minimal to no skills with technology. I would like to create opportunities to teach them to obtain skills such as research in cross-curriculum skills. Students not only need to read at level but also need to know how to utilize those skills in a meaningful way. I am preparing my students for post-secondary education and on to University.
Students with skills in STEM fields are the leaders of tomorrow, and I am building those skills in my students to be successful in post-secondary education.
These tools will help me teach skills that will ensure guaranteed success. I will implement these tools daily in my center activities In my classroom students will be able to create, collaborate, present, and teach one another lessons. They will have the opportunity to research informational pieces that are current in today's society. I will be able to move around my classroom because of the Apple TV I will be able to project graphic organizers or current events and news articles. Because of the Logitech Crayon, I will have the ability to write and demonstrate to my student's comprehension techniques. My students will have access to an interactive whiteboard and my students would benefit from a variety of teaching methods.
