My Students

The diverse community of students that attend Pottsville Area High School are wonderfully creative and resilient. They are dynamic and boisterous on the surface. But, given the opportunity to take a closer look, you will discover an unusual depth for kids this age. The majority of our students come from low income households and have overcome challenges that many adults would find difficult to navigate. As an art teacher, I have the privilege of getting to know some of these amazing individuals.

My Project

We all have something to say. Sometimes an individual just needs to find a way to say it. All students should have access to the opportunity to explore the mode of communication that is the visual arts.

The various art materials requested in this proposal will provide my students with the opportunity to discover a method for making their voice heard through explorations in acrylic painting.

Through unique student led projects, the children in my art classes will use these materials to learn painting skills that will enable them to visually communicate to the world their unique ideas and perspectives.
