Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a diverse classroom consisting of 3-4 grade levels of special needs children. These children come from different and difficult situations. My site is located in a hospital setting and due to privacy issues, I am not allowed to show photos of the children. We have limited supplies, and many days have to make do with what we can find on free websites. These donations will go a long way in helping these children get to use items they might never have the opportunity to otherwise.
These children are eager to learn but just need the opportunity to thrive and prosper.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
We need new books in a bad way. Our current books were well used but are now falling apart and making it hard for the children to keep interest and focus. Pages are missing or are falling off, the CDs are scratched and have begun to skip or not work at all. Its frustrating for the children who are eager to hear and follow along with a good book.
They are so eager to read, these books will help further their education so much!
They love to discuss the books after reading and give opinions and alternate ways they would handle situations. I would love to keep them enthusiastic about reading and these books would be perfect for that.
