My students are on a quest to conquer the necessary reading skills to ensure hey are college and career ready. My students are in a very high poverty area in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. We serve a multitude of different types of families but my students are hungry to succeed and learn.
My students come from a variety of families some have military families, most are single parent house holds that are struggling to make a living and working sometimes 2-3 jobs at a time.
My students come eager to learn and try to over come their challenges. Some are special needs, some are ELL, some are doing very well. We are a great charter school that offers an alternative to the local public school system. We are a core knowledge school and are very effective teachers. We struggle with having the right materials to help all children reach for the sky and succeed.
My Project
My students will be able to use Reading comprehension small group kit to differentiate instruction and allow the students more choices and various methods to conquer their reading. I asked for a second kit the Road to reading kit. This is a special kit that I ask for my students that are not on level with the rest of the class. It breaks down the reading process step by step encouraging them to be fluent readers throw various instructional techniques. I asked for construction paper so we can make a nice thank you package for anyone that helps us conquer reading.

My dream is to inspire all students especially my special needs and English language learners to aspire to be college and career ready. I know these materials will enable me to help them master the necessary foundational skills to bring them towards that goal. I believe every student is capable of rising above the multiple hardships that come with poverty and rise like a Phoenix to do great things. Thank you for your time
