My Students

Carl Sagan said, "Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere." We're heading into a future that will go nowhere if we continue to place adult-like expectations on them. Help our kids lead us into the unknown by allowing them to use their imagination!

I believe there's something special about our school, the students who attend it, and the staff that make it an unbelievable environment to learn and work in.

We're a small, early childhood school that believes firmly that a healthy and active body is essential for learning. Our school serves our students healthy and nutritious lunches and educates students on fitness and nutrition. We also believe that a child's imagination should be encouraged. Walk around our school and students will show you where the super heroes sleep, the door to the chamber of secrets, hidden treasures, and the gate that leads to the dragon's den. The majority of our students come from families who immigrated to the United States to give their children the best opportunity to succeed. They value education very much and always want the best for their children and will work long hours to support their family. Our school is dedicated to providing the best learning environment for our students.

My Project

They say life imitates art. In dramatic play the art of drama imitates life as our kids use their imagination and use what they know about the world to incorporate in their play. Dramatic play tells us a lot about what our students know. The blocks and kitchen props will serve as important tools my English language learning students can use to enhance their learning through dramatic play. Kids show what they know about the world through play. We hope to tap into their knowledge through dramatic arts. Adjacent to our dramatic play is our painting center. A new painting easel will allow our students to tap into their artistic side as it'll replace a worn our easel that's close to falling apart. Dramatic play and painting are centers that are ideal for Empowering Students Through Art. Costumes, props, and big ideas on canvass come together and allows for our students to express themselves and show what they know in an artistic way.

"'I'm bored' is a useless thing to say.

I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you're alive is amazing, so you don't get to say I'm bored." - Louis CK Sadly, it's still a response kids say when technology is taken away from them. My hopes for this project is to allow for my students to explore their imagination through visual and performing arts.
