We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to teach together in a co-teaching classroom! Our classroom has students of mixed levels and abilities where we develop individual strengths and gifts, with high and appropriate expectations for each child. We have found that our students are better able to demonstrate success within the classroom when we incorporate fun and energizing movement breaks, which enhances focus and the retention of more information from each lesson.
Our students would greatly benefit from an environment that provides them the opportunity to have comfort while learning, the power of making a choice where they feel they could demonstrate their best effort, as well as continuing to stimulate sensory input and movement.
My Project
We are requesting stools, bungee chairs, saucer chairs, balance balls, and lap desks. We strongly believe that our students learn best when they are given choice and are in the most comfortable learning environment! Flexible seating allows students to bounce, lean, twist, kick, fidget, wobble, roll, stand, kneel, and sit to suit their needs. If our students are provided with resources such as bean bag chairs, wobble chairs, lap desks, a sofa, etc., it will help promote an even more productive learning environment.
Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive!
We know that if we are fortunate enough to be able to provide flexible seating for our students, it will tremendously impact their learning in the most positive way.
