I am thrilled to be back in the classroom and excited to be working with an amazing group of third graders. While collaborating with their second grade teachers, I have gotten to know many of my incoming students.
The twenty-six students in our class, each with unique perspectives and learning styles, are energetic, gregarious, and as adventurous about learning as I am about teaching!
Although the school year has yet begun, their second grade experience has shaped them to become avid readers and writers, many of whom are ready to soar this school year.
My Project
The workshop model is fundamental to teaching writing and reading in third grade. A key element to empowering students' learning and growth with the workshop model is sharing student work. The AVerVision document camera will allow the students to display their work while learning from one other.
Students who present their work to their classmates feel empowered and motivated by their peers.
They are more apt to learn to accept and give constructive criticism. They are also more likely to have an intrinsic desire to learn while developing the empathy necessary to participate in a safe learning environment. I am eager to give students the opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives while exploring their thinking processes.
