My students need materials to help our classroom become a warmer environment. Light filters, chart paper, and a welcome sign will help my students feel at home in our class!
I am a 4th grade reading teacher to a group of very energetic nine and ten-year-olds. We are in a big school with a small community feel. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, environments, and challenges, but come together in one classroom and become a group of diverse thinkers and learners.
My students, regardless of ability, love a challenge that can make them feel successful and capable!
They are entering the age where they are discovering their strengths and letting them shine. I strive to create a classroom where we emphasize all of those strengths!
My Project
In my classroom, like many others, we have fluorescent lighting. This light is harsh and can cause headaches for sensitive kids. With light filters, the light will be softened, making my classroom a comfortable place to learn.
By making children comfortable, they will learn more!
With chart paper, we can record what we are learning and use it as a reference throughout the year. Students can always refer back to these charts when reviewing. As we are constantly learning new material, we will use the chart paper as evidence of our learning.
A welcome sign with student names will help my students feel as though they are a part of a classroom family.
