Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is a group of 170 students from different academic, social, and cultural, backgrounds in a year-round public school. Our students are very excited about learning and exploring the world of science! We want to foster their curiosity and critical thinking through this project!
Our fourth graders are an exciting group of students and we want to enrich their learning experiences in science class through hands-on experiments!
We want to learn more about renewable energy by having the opportunity to build our own windmills and dynamo torches.
Using these kits will improve students ability to explore the idea of energy by experimenting with, learning how to "harness" renewable energy, and collaborating in teams to look for solutions that impact our community. Our students are very curious about the idea of energy and renewable sources that we will be learning through this project. Both kits contain kits also will help students to understand how generators work and how circuits (battery and electric operated) enable us to use energy in our every day lives.
My Project
This is a project to engage students in 4th grade level into the world of energy. I want to investigate with them the importance of seeking renewable energy solutions for a brighter future. Our inspiration comes from the book The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, based on a real-life story that highlights the importance and the power of determination, collaborations, and diversity.
As students explore the concept of electricity from different perspectives they will have the opportunity to use their creativity to design and build their own structures that can power tools and objects using renewable sources.
Empowering Creative Minds is a project to encourage hands-on experiences in my 4th grade classes. Students need the opportunity to explore the idea of electricity and magnetism by building and creating prototypes that generate energy.
