My students are fun, curious, and full of energy. I love providing them with the best learning experiences. A child's development is influenced by his or her environment and the experiences they have had there. My continuous goal is to provide a safe, warm, nurturing and home-like environment with experiences that are self-directed and self-motivated to create a natural intrinsic love for learning.
First graders are active hands-on learners who enjoy having a choice in what, and how they learn!
In first grade, children transform into true readers, their vocabulary rapidly increases, and they prefer open-ended experiences. They are developing more sophisticated math strategies and enjoy scientific discoveries.
Watching them grow and learn in their own way and on their own path is so rewarding. My students utilize many hands-on materials and manipulatives, and they are taught to love learning. They are thrilled at what they can accomplish and what they are capable of when they set a goal and work hard!
My Project
I choose two STEM activities and two math games for my students. I am working on building our STEM and math resources to use in class during math groups and imaginative play.
STEM activities are perfect for young imaginations.
"The Build an Animal STEM Kit builds on children's natural curiosity by providing the materials and freedom to explore. The Animal Building Cards give children a start by building a giraffe, lion, elephant, chicken, frog and bird. Children should then be encouraged to build, create, and invent on their own." The Wood blocks will also invoke imaginations.
The Read the Clock and Place Value games will provide a great opportunity to learn and practice new math skills in a small group setting, where they can also work on their social skills.
