Help me give my students more tools to deal with their emotions. These books will help my students get better at identifying their emotions so that we can work through them.
My classroom is full of diverse learners. We have several students who are reading on grade level as well as below grade level. All come from different backgrounds and have a love of learning. They show up to school ready to learn and have active imaginations.
This class has many diverse needs and I really want to help each student be successful!
Their many different personalities are fun, spunky, and energetic. I want our classroom to be as engaging and interesting as they are. By fostering a love of learning, I hope to inspire them to a lifetime of reading and learning.
My Project
Most of my students families are more concerned about supporting their emotional health than learning new content. I completely agree. Students need to feel safe and secure before they can learn. Before they get back to where they feel safe and secure they need to be able to identify how they are feeling.
These books are all about identifying and dealing with emotions.
My students need support in first identifying what they are feeling. They need to know they are not the only one feeling this way. As we read and respond to these books we can support each other and work through this difficult time. I want my students to come through stronger and more resilient than ever. These books will help me accomplish this.
