My Students

Kindergarten is another year of school that the students will continue using what they learned in 4K about emotions and how to handle them in an appropriate way. We start to get more academic in kindergarten so having a safe, calm place to remind each child that emotions do come into play as we learn and it is okay to take a break and validate the emotions and use the tools to help them work through it and get back on task.

My goal is to add these materials to my classroom in order to have the best possible learning environment for my students this year and for years to come.

My Project

The Feelings Buddies Self-Regulation Toolkit contains a variety of materials that will allow me to specifically teach social emotional skills to my kindergartners. This kit is part of Conscious Discipline, which is the framework our school has adopted to teach social emotional skills.

This philosophy teaches young children how to identify their emotions, take a breath to calm down, and find a solution to their problem.

The kit materials will be used to provide tangible objects to my students so that they can physically practice naming emotions and breathing with the feeling buddy. This series of books teaches children how to use their "Big Voice" in a conflict, how to see the best in others, and how to handle big emotions.
