My students have now missed 6 weeks of in school instruction. We are currently utilizing teacher made packets and a class facebook group with recorded lessons from me. I teach in a Title I school where a lot of my kids are on free or reduced lunch and receive food bags for the weekends. My students do not have access to many resources at the moment.
My Project
Kindergarten is the foundation for reading skills including handwriting and learning to create your own stories. My students are missing a fourth of this very important first year. With the guided reading leveled readers I will be able to provide my students with books on their level to continue building their reading fluency from home. It is so important that they read books that are not too hard for them so that they do not become frustrated and develop a negative attitude towards reading. I would love to be able to give them books on their current level and a few on the next level up so that they can continue growing as readers.
The LCD writing boards will be something they can use from home with no mess.
Parents will not have to worry about markers running out or getting all over the place like dry erase boards. These boards will make it so fun for students to practice writing sight words, drawing pictures, and writing their own stories. They will also be an easy way for students to complete their assignments so that parents can take pictures of them to send to me for progress monitoring. Kindergarten is suppose to be hands on and very few worksheets. I want my students to have a way to continue learning without sitting at a table with paper and a pencil all day.
