Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students reside primarily in the Bronx and they are incredibly talented, artistic and yearning to express themselves when granted the opportunity to do so. Ninety percent of my students receive free lunch and grapple with so many hardships they have to try to escape when they are in school.
Moreover, my school comprises of 25% special education population, 16% ENLs and eighty five percent of my students are males.
Moreover, ninety percent of my students receive free lunch. The demographics of my school clearly show the socioeconomic status and learning population of students striving to succeed.
Despite, the many disadvantages my students have to overcome, they are for the most part eager to lend a hand and explore their surroundings by creating, collaborating and honing their artistry skills. This is evident when my students are ecstatic to stay after school to work on school projects that can benefit our entire community as one. My students clearly understand that great things happen when there is a collective effort.
My Project
My students are ineffably eager to create and see their final class products displayed in color on bulletin boards for the world to see their hard work and creativity. Moreover, students love to see their colorful work up because it shows their effort which inspires them to better themselves. I am requesting presentation boards, a portable presentation lectern and a wireless presenter rechargeable remote control in order to continue to reach my diverse all inclusive student population by encouraging them to present their final products as a means to prepare them to be college and career ready.
No child shall be left behind from an all access and equitable learning experience where they can hone and infuse their creativity visually, intellectually, culturally and physically.
However, my school has very limited resources and one of them is not having a color printer available to students and preceptors. Hence, I am optimistic to have this opportunity through this wonderful forum to advocate for my students and yearn to get a color printer where I will be able to print their projects and my students will be encouraged to create and be more innovative thinkers knowing that their vibrant masterpieces will be showcased exactly how they depicted.
