This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students have a hard time staying on task and focusing. With the Elmo document camera, it is like they are the only student in the room. Everything is so vivid in color and clarity. Experiments come alive as they are the only one doing it. The Elmo can create a situation where everyone in the room has a front row seat.
Our students are from low socioeconomic families.
They come to school with very little language. They have no background knowledge of the things we read and learn about.
My students need an Elmo document camera. The Elmo helps books come alive and makes learning fun. The Elmo will help them stay focused and see everything clearly. Books, experiments, realia, maps, diagrams and more become life-size. Being able to annotate over, underline and highlight the books as we read helps students learn to read informational text.
Our new standards require informational text be almost 50% of our reading. The Elmo will help us model that to the students. Our students deserve the best. They are bright and want to learn. This document camera will help them stay focused so they get all they can at school.
We want students to be the productive citizens they can be. With your help, we can capture their attention and keep it focused on learning.
My Project
We have only 3 Elmo document cameras in our school. I am appealing to you to help us get another one. We share the ones we have, but once teachers have it in their rooms, they never want to give them up. It is such an important teaching tool and the students love it.
I am the Media Specialist and I have to try to keep everyone happy. I need more document cameras so teachers can have them for longer periods of time. Our students and teachers deserve all the tools they can find to teach our precious children and keep them engaged in learning.
Our project is so important.
I have encouraged all our teachers to write a grant for an Elmo or a Ladybug Document Camera. They are in such demand that I can't supply everyone with one when they need it. We must have more document cameras in our school for the type of students we teach. Anything we can do to make learning come alive for them, our teachers are willing to do. Our students are bright but they come to us delayed due to their backgrounds and home lives.
