This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students learn more when they hear, see, and experience the information. My students have a real thirst for learning and they excel when exposed to information in differentiated ways. Being able to watch as I model highlighting, note taking, and writing will help them to become stronger students
I teach at a K-8 charter school that values both the academic achievement as well as the social development of our students.
I deliver direct instruction every subject with interactive lessons that engage all types of learners, including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, mathematical, and musical. My classroom population includes students with a variety of needs. They absorb more, and perform best when they are exposed to a multitude of instructional techniques.
My Project
Using the document camera I will be able to engage students in lessons that cannot be done on the white board. One example is being able to model the recording of thinking during class discussions. I use real time modeling of authentic documents including books and articles. This helps students to make connections between their thinking and another student's thinking. They feel pride in their individual contributions to lessons as well as their accountability to the class discussion.
In addition, the document camera saves time spent rewriting lesson information on the overhead or on the white board. This will help to retain precious instructional minutes. It allows me to save authentic documents from lessons to give to my special needs students, without having to rewrite from a transparencies.
Having this piece of technology in my classroom will allow me to engage students in lessons more completely.
I will be able to bring technology into the classroom to enhance lessons.
