My students need electronic balances in order to eliminate time we spend using triple beam balances.

My Students

Our school is nestled in a small community. While many may think we come from an affluent area, the reality is that half of our students come from low-income households, and many are on free or reduced lunches. With decreasing enrollment, we lack the state funding that larger schools receive. We are also the lowest paid district in our area. Our students, however, are the pillars of our success! They resemble the citizens, students and athletes that drive us to work hard every day. They are passionate about what they do, and are determined to be positive contributors to our community.

My Project

Two electronic balances will save valuable classroom time by eliminating the need for us to rely on the triple beam balance! Electronic balances will allow every lab group the time to finish their lab experiments in a more timely matter which will result in more time to discuss and debrief our experiments at the end of the period. While our current triple beam balances work, they are very time consuming and tedious. New electronic balances will put students in touch with the technology used in the workplace. Students will learn to become more efficient in their work, and will be able to put their energy into their actual experiment rather than route data collection.
