Ms. Hartfield from San Francisco CA is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need mobile video recording in order to help teachers see themselves teach.

My classroom is special because I teach students with learning differences and English Language needs. My excitement comes from giving ALL students access to the curriculum. That can be done in many ways through accommodations, culturally relevant pedagogy and use of technology to name a few. I do my best to understand each and every student's needs, learning styles and personalities in order to provide them the best education possible. We recently did a scavenger hunt in the school in order to have the students help pick out the next novel we would read. I want them to know that learning can be fun and that they can take part in the curriculum. They found different books around the school and used reading strategies to preview the books. We ended up settling on Children of Blood and Bone and the students were so engaged.
I am requesting the opportunity to develop an ongoing professional development opportunity at my school. We work in a small charter school and don't have the opportunity to attend many professional developments. This professional development would allow teachers to film themselves and afterward receive feedback in small groups in order to improve their teaching practices. Most teachers are only observed once or twice a year, if that often. By analyzing our teacher moves we can find areas we need to improve and identify strengths, improving outcomes for students.
Watching yourself teach can change the way our students progress through the curriculum.
We can figure out how much space/time we take up in the classroom as teachers. That can, in turn, guide the teacher to having more student talk time or inquiry-based learning.
