Elementary Science Lab Today, Walking in Outer Space Tomorrow!
Help me give my students stools to make our classroom look like a science lab. We will be doing so many exciting things that they will jump out of their "Norwood plastic stools".

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year as a classroom teacher since 1996. My new students are 80% Hispanic and reside in Detroit. I want them to squeal with joy when they walk into their classroom. I will be their math and science teacher and want our classroom to look like a science lab. We will share all kinds of adventures inside and outside our classroom. We will also be inviting a variety of Hispanic scientists, engineers, and mathematicians into our room to learn more about their careers.
Due to their English language challenges and residing in an inner-city, their exposure to authentic math and science may be limited.
My task as their teacher will be to find ways for them to have access to fun and exciting real-life scenarios.
My Project
Crime scene investigations, escape rooms, engineering projects, hands-on science, and manipulating mathematical concepts will allow for authentic learning in our classroom. Replacing our desks with lab tables and stools will allow the students space and mobility to build models, hold math and science conferences, and easily change from one collaborative workspace to another.
Stools are not just for sitting and working but can be transformed into a rocket launch pad or a ramp for speed and velocity experiments!
The uses are endless and the lessons memorable. Students will be entrenched in authentic learning which will enable them to increase their language skills while engaging in math and science.
