This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
All 280 students in my school from 3K through 5th-grade students can't go to school but stay home for distance learning. Each student's family receives either one laptop or iPad. We use different online resources, such as Google Classroom and Google Meet, to teach the students. Some students who live in shelters have a hard time for distance learning because they don't have enough space for learning. Some students have brothers or sisters who live in the family, and they need to share the laptop or iPad with their brothers or sisters. Although the students are facing economic disadvantages, they work very hard to complete their online reading and math assignments. I am so proud to be one of their teachers.
My Project
During the COVID-19 school closure, all 280 students in my school can't go to school but stay home for remote learning. A student with special-needs receives an iPad, but he has a hard time completing essay assignments in Google Classroom. In school, he uses a real pencil to draw and write on papers. For distance learning, he needs an Apple pencil to write and draw on the iPad screen. He will use the Apple pencil to write letters in the English class, write numbers in the math class, and draw pictures in the art class.
