This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students of my school come from low income families. They don't have access to computer at home and often struggle in school. I teach students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade in computers. I teach them useful computer skills that they can apply to their other school subjects. Some of my students have special needs.
The students in my class learn necessary computer skills, but also learn how to code, and fun and safe ways to use the internet.
These materials will help my students to learn and explore technology with a more hands on approach. They will also help to inspire my students to explore a career in STEM fields.
My Project
The students will be given the opportunity to increase their problem solving skills through coding. Coding will help the students to take a step by step approach to solving a problem both in computer class and outside of my classroom.
These materials will help to challenge the students' problem solving skills and increase their confidence by giving them the opportunity to master problem solving skills.
The Scratch books and robots will be used in all grade levels from Kindergarten through 5th grade and even with the students with special needs. I will use the Scratch books to help teach the students to use Scratch and the robots to help them to put their coding knowledge to use. Once the students have success with the robots, we will look into starting a robotics club in the school. The hooks will be used to help store our materials safely in the classroom.
