This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Math is more than just numbers. Math is expanding a student's ability to think critically and analytically. A strong background in math opens innumerable doors to their futures. Financial literacy is an important aspect many young people do not understand.
My students live in the poorest congressional district in the country.
Yet, they face their daily challenges head on, with the greatest zeal for life. But, they lack many of the basic items needed to expand their education, such as a quality calculator.
My Project
In order to properly practice mathematics, students need hand-outs and worksheets. These need to be stapled together to keep them organized. Our master copy machine is often out of staples, and teachers need to staple packets by hand. This leads to fatigue and stress.
A box of paper will give students sufficient worksheets to practice and work on.
An electronic stapler will help assemble work packets in an orderly and quick fashion. Students will be able to have organized and neat work packets. Teachers will no longer be fatigued when stapling 120 packets every morning. The electronic stapler will help students and teachers remain organized and ready to work.
