Every day I am blessed to teach 28 students in a rural school district. Many of my students struggle to learn their multiplication facts and they really should have their facts mastered before they go to the next grade. It's challenging with a large class to have enough tools to get them there.
I have many motivated students that are encouraged at home and I have students that receive no encouragement.
The students that aren't encouraged get frustrated when no one works with them at home. My school is in a rural area with many low income families. Many families have both parents that are working. There are also many grandparents raising grandchildren as well. We are experiencing severe budget cuts and anything we need for our classroom the teacher is responsible for.
My Project
My students will use the electronic games to master a specific multiplication set they are working on at the time. The wrap ups are also designed for students to work on the specific set they are learning. While they are engaged with these items, I can work with the rest of my students with regular flashcards. We will rotate using the games, wrap ups and flashcards. This will enable students to use a variety of resources to master their facts.
Donations will allow my students to use a variety of materials to achieve multiplication success.
Mastering this skill is very important before they go into the next grade. My students will gain more confidence when they are successful with their facts. Overall, students will be excited to use fun things to learn multiplication.
