Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are limited by income, but boundless in skill and imagination. Although many of our students live below the poverty line (100% receive free breakfast and lunch) they are eager to learn and live rich lives.

Like many other children, our students are highly interested in science and technology.

Our school supports these interests by funding a science and technology class, called STEEL. Each week every students visits the STEEL classroom to learn about science, technology, and to learn the academic vocabulary associated with both subjects.

My Project

Science, it is the most hands on subject I can think of. It can blow your mind and leave you wondering "How did that just happen?" It can open a student's mind to curiosity and awe. That is the goal at least. My class needs materials in order to move from talking about science to experiencing science.

With hands on experiences all students become budding scientists.

Our class is requesting Snap Circuits and batteries so that we can experience energy transfer in a real life way. Less talking about energy and more doing! By experiencing science my students will have a clearer understanding of how energy transfer occurs. Doing is learning!
