I teach fourth grade math and science at an elementary school in a low socio-economic community.

Our school used to receive science kits for each area of study required by state standards. The kits were a wonderful hands-on supplement to each unit of study. However, because of severe budget cuts, our school is no longer receiving any kits.

My students have to have batteries, bulb sockets, wires, bulbs, switches, etc., in order to create circuits. The most effective way to learn about parallel and series circuits is to make them! It is very important for them to learn these basic elements now because each year they will have to build on this knowledge.

Please help by giving my students the knowledge and confidence they need to be successful in science!
