My students need these electrical supplies, motors, propellers, bell, and a fancar so they can work in smaller groups to benefit more from the hands on experience.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Watching a child explore how something as important as electricity works is priceless and it is that excitement that keeps me teaching. Most of these children are lucky to have electricity in their homes after my lessons on electricity they understand that someone invented what they just did.
My school is an inner city school with most of the children living in low income housing.
We are Title one with 88% of the children on free or reduced lunch. These children have many challenges in their lives and school is their safe place to go where they can focus on learning and have someone listen to them. Their minds are sharp and creative just waiting for the right subject to come along and open up that learning spark and they see their future.
My Project
These supplies will add the ones I already have from the science kits. With what I have now the kids have to be in such large group 6 or more. This will allow the groups to go down to 3 or less allowing them to have a more hands on experience and be able to work with the supplies longer. The fan-car and bell will show them that not only does electricity work with light bulbs but many other things as well. These hands on lessons make them feel like an inventor and how amazing it feels when you use your hands to make something so important as electricity work. It is a powerful and life learning experience that a book just can not duplicate.
This project is important for the children because life is about doing, getting in there and trying new things.
We want children to be problem solvers but they never get the time or supplies to be problem solvers. Time to explore and time to really think things through and to use the scientific methods of hypothesis, experiment, records, and try again. My students deserve the chance to explore electricity with the supplies needed to succeed. Thank you
