Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school I teach at is a Title 1 school. The school is in a lower social economic neighborhood. The school offers students breakfast, lunch and dinner. The school also has a program to help families with young children by offering free lunch, and supper for individuals under 18. The school is predominantly (over 90%) free lunch.
The students will be immersed in STEAM to help guide them to other alternatives in the future.
This is the first year students get a chance to learn about science, engineering and technology and how they benefit the students now and in the future when they get into the work force.
The students are excited to get started and to learn and grow with their new experiences.
My Project
Students are creating videos to educate students about science. We need an i pad for our you tube science elective. Students will research an experiment and learn the science behind it. They will record their experiment and tell others about the science behind the experiment.
The new next generation science standards indicate students need to learn about electricity.
With the items students will learn from scratch how electricity works and how it can be applied in our everyday life. There are a lot of new strategies to teach students about electricity. Incorporating these new ideas will help my students keep up with the fast pace of STEAM implementation.
