Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is designed to offer a viable alternative to the traditional high school for students whose needs have not been met in the traditional high school setting. Students respond well to the personalized setting and individualized learning contract approach. We are located in the heart of Silicon Valley so preparing my students for life after graduation is key in my classroom. Students learn skills they can use throughout their life and share with others. I emphasize critical thinking skills, encourage students to be academic learners, and effective communicators.

My Project

Soldering is one of the most fundamental skills needed to dabble in the world of electronics. Students will use problem-solving and critical thinking skills to learn the basics of soldering in electrical engineering. The skills they learn with the projects gathered through funding could spark a lifelong interest or career in the future. Students will be doing hands-on innovative projects such as wiring a lightbulb to light up a 3d designed lamp.

In a world of increasing technological surroundings, I believe it is important that people everywhere be able to not only understand the technologies they use every day but also be able to build, alter, and fix them as well.

Soldering is one of many skills that will empower my students to do just that.
