This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
You may remember playing little xylophones in your music class years ago, but our school does not have any!
Our students are an exciting mixture of children who have been in our school for years, and new students who recently were moved due to rezoning.
They are positive, excited students who genuinely love learning. We recently became a Title 1 school, a designation that means we have a large population of low-income students.
My Project
I have recently been moved to one school instead of dividing my time between two, so I would love to create some extra opportunities for students to learn more about music! These xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels will be used in regular music classes to explore reading music to play harmonies and melodies, as well as in a select Orff ensemble.
As you can see these resources are expensive and it would take years of buying one at a time with our limited music budget to create an Orff ensemble.
Your generosity will impact all the students in the school, and also give a special outlet for a select group of music makers.
