My students need an easel for them to see the lessons clearly, alphabet cards and tablet for our literacy centers, markers and paper to use with our new easel.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the sweetest babies! They want to read so badly. The common core lessons are quite rigorous but they are up for the challenge. Every morning we have our meeting and read our morning message for the day. It always ends with xo Mrs. Schiller.
My students are 4, 5 & 6 year old students from a low economic area in NY.
They are silly, smart and full of energy. Most of them are African American and Hispanic. Our school has recovered for the most part after Hurricane Sandy. Most things have been replaced and the atmosphere has improved. It is a Pre-k to 8 school and due to the high demands on the older grades, early childhood is not regarded as priority. :(
My Project
We will use the easel and chart paper to read our morning message, learning new literacy skills and for teaching all the necessary curriculum in our super, fabulous class. It will be used for every subject from Dance & Movement, ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. The other items will help us become better readers. (The batteries are for the pencil sharpener and Leapsters)
Every child, no matter where they live deserve a good education.
My easel has been with me for the 7 years in this school and was a hand me down from another teacher. When the 24x36, board from your easel almost falls on one of your students, it is necessary to get a new one. We all deserve it but unfortunately, we have no budget.
With these items we can see what we have to do much more clearly and it will be safer.
